Specialist Physician in SSMC Abu Dhabi is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centered care. The post holder is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within the Division and contribute to the supervision and training of junior medical staff. This job ID number is 405.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF SPECIALIST PHYSICIAN IN SSMC

  • Supports and adheres to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Supports and participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
  • Assists with Consultant staff in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times
  • Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents
  • Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Consultant Staff
  • Under the supervision of the Consultant Physician, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s speciality.
  • Assists the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff, and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provide
  • Complies with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow-up practices
  • Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
  • Leads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients regularly, in line with established best practice
  • Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion by established procedures
  • Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
  • Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
  • Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
  • Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, speciality clinics, walk-in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals
  • Communicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) promptly
  • Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tier 1: No additional experience is required post-board certification.
  • Tier 2: NLT 2 years of clinical experience post qualification as a Specialist Physician For UAE Nationals + Non-UAE Nationals enrolled in HAAD-accredited residency programs:
  • C. Tier 3: NLT 3 years clinical experience as Specialist post qualification in an internationally accredited institute
