Located in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, the site is a part of the Primary Packaging Group within the parent company. The site operates 24/5 and is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter with experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment to support the Maintenance team.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your key outcomes will be to;
- Ensuring adherence to safe work practices, site policies and procedures, including contractor’s compliance.
- Providing mechanical maintenance assistance to operators, line maintainers and production personnel in all manufacturing areas and departments where and when required.
- Providing information and recommendations to Team Leaders and Managers that will assist in improving uptime of equipment and extending equipment lifecycles.
- Assisting with the function of ensuring that parts are reliably sourced and ordered which will enable effective planned maintenance along with the quality and efficiency of repairs.
In addition,
- Aid with team problem solving and decision making.
- Provide technical support and guidance where required to production, packaging, and engineering services personnel on preventative maintenance, planned maintenance and upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Assist with developing improvements within the Production Team, and
- Develop, maintain, and improve Preventative Maintenance routines along with overhaul scheduling and documentation.

- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving skills
- Ability to think laterally and be proactive with decision making in all types of situations
- Excellent organizational and planning skills to achieve targets
- Effective written and/or verbal communications skills at all levels.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Comprehensive understanding and experience of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Competent welding skills
- Sound computing skills
- Understanding and use of CMMS
- Willingness to perform functions which may fall outside the normal duties.
